Plat books can be an aid to genealogists for following land ownership in families and locating the names of neighbors of ancestors. Plat books contain maps of each township with land parcels outlined with the name of the land owner and acreage of parcel. Also the maps will list cemeteries, schools and roads. The scan at the right illustrates the available information. The bad news is that there is no index for the book. This plat book contains maps of the townships.
This most likely dates from the late 1930's or early 1940's. This was estimated by examining the dates of deaths of listed land owners.
Grundy county is located in northern Illinois and is surrounded by LaSalle, Kendall, Will, Kankaee, Livingston, counties. The county seat is Morris and other towns are Braceville, Carbon Hill, Coal City, Gardner, Kinsman, Mazon, Minokka, Stockdale, and Verona.

This CD is not search-able but has a series of bookmarks making navigation through the file easier. The CD is packaged in a protective sleeve.
