his wonderful, black & white Cocker Spaniel dog it was designed and produced by Mortens Studio. Standing at 4" tall x 4 1/4" long x 2 1/4 " wide, she has fabulous detailing, and elegant black and white coloring. What is really striking about this dog, is her incredibly beautiful face and soulful eyes, that truly capture what we love so much about this gentle and lovable breed.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition. This dog has three small paint chiped areas, see picures for details.
